title: Bots
description: Your Hermes agents in the sidebar, one row per profile.
---

**Bots** switches the sidebar to your Hermes agents, one row per Hermes profile, with a new session one click away.

Bots start off. Turn them on in **Settings > Extensions > Store**, under Planning and automation. The card only appears on a computer where the Hermes CLI (`hermes`) is installed.

## Use it

- **Switch lists**: the Hermes button (in the Space row, or the sidebar's top row when Spaces are off) shows your bots. While they're showing, it turns into a back arrow that returns to your projects.
- **One row per profile**: the default profile shows as **Hermes**, and every folder in `~/.hermes/profiles` under its own name. A dot shows whether the bot's gateway is running (green) or stopped (grey).
- **New session**: the row's **+** starts a session with that bot, in chat or terminal. Its sessions sit under it and take the usual session menu.
- **Edit SOUL** and **Edit config** open that bot's `SOUL.md` and `config.yaml` in the Code view.

Hermes conversations you started elsewhere, like in a terminal, Discord or Telegram, are listed under their bot in **Quick Access > Sessions**.

## Bot automations

**Bot automations** is a second switch in the Store, available while Bots is on. It adds an **Automations** row at the top of the Bots sidebar with a read-only feed of every Hermes cron run: one `#channel` per job, plus `#all`. Group channels with **+ New group**, and right-click a channel to move it into a group. The feed needs the desktop app.
