What is Ghostex ADE?
Ghostex is a native macOS Agent Development Environment (ADE) for running, organizing, and resuming agent CLI sessions. It turns agent-driven development into a stable local workspace instead of a collection of fragile terminal tabs.
Built for multi-agent workflows
Ghostex is for developers who keep multiple agents and terminals alive at once. It combines low-overhead Ghostty terminals, native Swift UI, T3 Code GUI panes, Chromium browser panes, and Android/iOS session access in one workspace.
The project is a free and open source alternative to Codex App for developers who work with multiple agent CLIs across multiple repositories. Every agent session is project-aware, resumable, inspectable, and reachable from the desktop app, shell, browser or editor panes, and mobile companions.
Core product surfaces
- Native macOS host — window chrome, pane layout, Ghostty terminals, browser and editor hosting, menu bar integration, and notifications.
- Sidebar workspace — project groups, session cards, commands, settings, worktrees, and project-board views for scanning many live sessions.
- Terminal sessions — auto-naming, sleep to save memory, restore into layout, attach from CLI, and survive app or machine restarts.
- CLI and automation —
ghostexandgxfor listing, attaching, sleeping, waking, focusing, and managing sessions from a shell.
