Files and feedback

Read what your agents write, mark it up, and send your notes back in one go.

The Files view shows the Markdown, HTML and Excalidraw files in your project’s docs folders. It’s the easiest way to review a plan, a report, or a mockup an agent made, and tell it what to change. It also opens tables, JSON, PDFs, databases and fonts, so you can check an agent’s output without leaving Ghostex.

Review a document

Select some text

A small toolbar appears. Add a comment, or mark the text Looks good, Clarify, Needs tests, or Remove this.

Add as many notes as you like

Notes stay on the document until you clear them. Use the header to add a comment about the whole file.

Click Send

Your notes go to the session you last clicked in the sidebar, as a numbered list with line numbers. If that agent is busy, they’re copied to your clipboard instead, so nothing is lost.

Reply to an agent the same way

Under an agent’s reply in chat, click Reply by Annotating. The reply opens in Files, where you can mark it up and send your notes straight back to that session.

Web pages

For HTML files in Files and pages in the Browser view, click Annotate to point at parts of the page and leave notes on them.

Editing

Markdown files open in an editor, so you can also fix things yourself. Press Cmd+F to find and replace. When an agent changes a file you’re editing, Files offers Compare, Keep mine or Take theirs.

Other kinds of files

File How it opens
CSV and TSV A table you can sort and resize. Raw shows the text, which you can edit.
JSON Format and Minify buttons, and Tree to fold it, search it and copy a value’s path.
PDF A viewer with zoom, search, page thumbnails and print.
SQLite (.db, .sqlite) Read-only: browse a table’s rows, or run a SELECT query. Nothing is ever written.
Fonts (.ttf, .otf, .woff) A preview with sample text at several sizes and every character. Nothing is installed.

Files that can’t be shown as text, like a zip or an Office document, open in their usual app.

Where files open

File opening in Settings > General decides where a file opens when you click it in a chat, a terminal or Quick Access: one choice for HTML, Markdown and pictures, one for every other file. Pick Files (the default), the Code view, or an editor app such as VS Code, Cursor or Zed.

To add folders to the list, set Docs folders in Settings > Projects.
