Code and Browser
A VS Code editor and a Chromium browser, open beside your agents.
Code
The Code view is a full VS Code editor for the project. Files your agents mention open here when you click them.
- Cmd-click a
file:lineorfile:line:columnlink in a terminal to open the file at that line. - In a chat, Review all on a files-changed card opens the changes in Code.
- From a terminal,
ghostex edit <file>opens a file in Code, andghostex edit --goto <file>:<line>jumps to a line. - Turn on Use VS Code settings (Settings > General, Show Advanced) to reuse your own VS Code configuration.
The editor is a one-time download, which Ghostex offers the first time you open the view. In a remote project, Code edits the files on that computer.
Browser
The Browser view is a real Chromium browser with tabs and DevTools. Its page tabs sit in the view panel’s tab row, next to the other views. Cmd+T opens a new tab, and a blank tab lists your running dev servers to pick from.
- Test on a phone or tablet: click the phone button in the toolbar and pick a size, like iPhone 15 or iPad. Landscape turns it sideways, and Mobile user agent loads the page as that phone’s browser would. Each tab keeps its own choice.
- Annotate: point at parts of the page, leave notes, and send them to an agent. It also works inside a Storybook story.
- Right-click a link or picture to open it in a new tab, save it, or copy it.
- Forms: the Browser offers values you typed before, but it doesn’t save passwords.
- Links to apps: when a page wants to open another app, like Zoom or Okta Verify, Ghostex asks first.
Links from terminals, chats and dev servers open here. To use your usual browser instead, change Open links in (Settings > General). Links to localhost on a remote computer always open here, through that computer.
Agents can drive the Browser too, with the Ghostex Embedded Browser Use skill.
Storybook
When a project has Storybook, a Storybook view appears in the view picker (press S). Ghostex builds the stories with the project’s build script and shows them without keeping a server running. Click Rebuild Storybook after you change a component, and Annotate with Agentation to mark up a story.
Sleep and memory
Only the view you’re looking at and the two you used before it stay loaded. The rest keep their tab and wake when you click them. Browser tabs you haven’t looked at for a while close to free memory and reload when you come back, except tabs playing sound or holding text you haven’t sent.
