Browsers and desktop apps
Let agents click, type and read pages in a browser, or drive apps on your computer.
Four skills let an agent use a browser or an app the way you would: open a page, click, fill in a form, read what’s on screen, and take screenshots. Pick the one that matches where the work happens.
| Skill | Use it for |
|---|---|
| Ghostex Embedded Browser Use | Pages in Ghostex’s own Browser view. |
| Ghostex Browser Use | Pages in Chrome, Chromium, Edge, or a supported Electron app. |
| Ghostex Computer Use | Native apps, browser menus and dialogs, Safari, Firefox: anything else on screen. |
| Ghostex SpaceO | Mac apps on a hidden screen of their own, so yours stays untouched. |
Install them in Settings > Integrations > Bundled Agent Skills, then call one by typing $ in the message box, like “$ghostex-embedded-browser-use open localhost and check the console for errors.”
Ghostex’s Browser view
Ghostex Embedded Browser Use works with the browser built into Ghostex, so it needs nothing else installed. The agent opens a page in the project’s Browser view (or reuses a tab that’s already on the same site), then reads the console, takes snapshots and screenshots, clicks, fills in fields and presses keys. You watch it happen beside your sessions.
It’s the best choice for testing the web app you’re building. From a terminal, ghostex browser open <url> opens a page in the Browser view.
Your own browser and apps
Ghostex Browser Use and Ghostex Computer Use run through Fast Computer & Browser Use (trycua/cua).
Install Fast Computer & Browser Use
In Settings > Integrations. Installing either skill also installs its cua-driver skill, which the agent reads first.
Grant permissions
It needs Accessibility to click and type and Screen Recording to see the screen. Fast Computer & Browser Use Permissions in the same page shows what’s missing.
Good to know:
- The agent works in the background where it can, and doesn’t bring your apps to the front unless you ask.
- For browser pages, it uses a separate browser profile with no logins by default. If the task needs your signed-in accounts, it asks you up front before it starts, because that gives it access to your live pages and cookies.
- On Windows, Fast Computer & Browser Use installs on the Windows side, and agents running in WSL reach it from there.
A hidden screen: SpaceO
Ghostex SpaceO opens Mac apps (or a page in a Chromium browser) on a virtual display you can’t see. The agent clicks, types and takes screenshots there while you keep your own screen, pointer and focus.
- It needs an Apple Silicon Mac with macOS 14 or later.
- Install SpaceO in Settings > Integrations. Ghostex runs SpaceO’s installer and keeps it running in the background. SpaceO Permissions shows which app needs Accessibility and Screen Recording, and opens the right pane.
- If the agent needs you, for example for a 2FA code, it pauses and tells you. You can take over in SpaceO Viewer.
- Electron apps such as VS Code, Cursor or Slack can’t run there; use a native app or Chromium instead.
